Police launch portal for public feedback

Maldives Police Service launched an online portal for public feedback, on Wednesday.
During the press conference held at Iskandharu Building, Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed (MC) stated that the portal was established to increase citizen participation in the institution.
President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had pledged to establish a Police reform programme within the first 100 days of his administration.
The Acting Commissioner revealed that complaints received until February 15, 2019, will be formulated into the police's strategic plan.
Apart from the online platform, Police has decided to host workshops and a symposium in the future to increase public involvement in reforming the institution.
Citizens have the option of sharing their feedback anonymously.

Recently appointed Acting Commissioner of Police Mohamed ‘MC’ Hameed has revealed the Maldives Police Service (MPS)’s decision to establish an online platform for public feedback.
According to Hameed, the purpose of establishing the online platform is so that the people can submit their complaints or feedback to better the institution. He further stated that it is important that the police institute learns from the public this way, so that they can further strengthen the istitution.
Further speaking at the press conference, Hameed said that the police service is currently working to form a strategic plan for its institutions.
Stating that the service has prioritized the work to form a strategic plan as part of their reform efforts at an executive level, Hameed revealed that the service plans to form the plan with the cooperation of all as they are yet to learn which areas need more focus on development and amendments just in the police institutions.
